They claim to be southern food with soul but let me tell you the whole establishment is southern heart and soul.
Big Mans Cafe is the friendliest resturant in North Central Florida, located in Ocala. This cafe has the very best Fried Chicken. The fried chicken is flavorful, crispy and mouth watering delicous it melts in your mouth. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with onion rings as a side, and the the pork smothered with macaroni and cheese, onion rings and fries. The lunch plates come with either two or three sides.
The friendly atmosphere is one that everyone needs to experience. Immediately you are greeted with smiles, friendly faces and big southern welcomes. The food comes out fast, hot and fresh. I believe this small establishment is family owned and ran. Four of the workers/family members checked on us repeatedly thoughout our stay.The room was disgusting, rusty, in poor condition and in need of major upkeep and repair. The hall carpet was black and stained, bed was uncomfortable. The light switch in the bathroom didn’t work and when we got it to work it shorted out and was sparking when turning it off and on. it wasn’t the room we requested. we requested a deluxe king tower room with sofa bed. when I checked into the hotel, I was told they didn’t have that room and the king room they did have was not in the tower room. we specifically requested this room for the king bed and sofa and due to the space it showed the room having and the set up. the room we were given was 2 queens no sofa bed for the same price as the larger king room. the hotel refused to give us a discount for a downgrade in the room. the walls had water damage. the bathroom door had water damage, the kitchen shelf had drywall pieces breaking off. paint was flaking off everywhere, food stains or something on walls, floors were not cleaned. the celling by the vent was dusty the air filter was not changed recently. location did not feel safe at all. we refused to leave the room once checked in until we checked out that next morning. we originally had reservations to stay for 3 nights but after 5 minutes in the room I was disgusted and decided I couldn’t stay another night. poor lighting in the room. one plug in the middle of the room for charging on the nightstand which meant whoever was on the other side of the bed didn’t have access to a light or a plug. when my husband and I arrived at our new hotel the Hampton inn in Tampa that next day we both felt under the weather. our allergies were bothering us from the dusty dirty room at the Ramada and after this trip we vowed to never stay at a Ramada again.
